Great PAS Officers' Meeting

(It's amazing how quickly 3 months can go by - I can hardly believe it's been that long since I last posted.)

Two weeks ago I spent 4 days in Indianapolis with the Percussive Arts Society Executive Committee (Gary Cook, Steve Houghton, Steve Beck, Lisa Rogers, John R. Beck, Michael Kenyon and me) doing business for the Society. Having moved our headquarters to Indy we are really excited about many of the changes we've been able to make. The majority of the staff is new since we relocated to Indy, and they are doing awesome work. We also contracted with new financial advisors, and wow, are they good - in 2008 thus far, with the market down about 15%, these folks were able to grow our investments by 1%. I don't know anyone else whose investments have beat the market average and actually made gains.

We spent one entire day with the architect for our new museum - I can't share any specific details right now, but I'm hoping soon I'll be able to provide detailed information about how great this museum will be. Stay tuned for that....

We made several final decisions about the upcoming PASIC, and the lineup of artists who have confirmed looks spectacular. For those of you interested, I'll be introducing the Friday night concert, which is a tribute to the wonderful John Bergamo.

If you haven't yet made plans to attend PASIC, you'd better hurry up and do so - attendance figures are very high and hotel rooms are running short. And for all you PAS members reading this, remember to vote in the Board of Directors' election currently underway - the deadline is October 1 to cast your votes.
