DECEMBER 31, 2006

First, I hope you have a fun and safe New Year's Eve.

Today marks the final day of my two-year presidency of the Percussive Arts Society. It's been an absolutely phenomenal experience, one I know that I will cherish the rest of my life. I'm indebted to the other officers of PAS during my presidency (Michael Balter, Gary Cook, Mark Ford, Steve Houghton, Michael Kenyon, and Lisa Rogers) as well as the PAS staff and Board of Directors. Thank you all for making my presidency so rewarding for me!

More to come soon....

More from PASIC 2006

For me, the absolute highlight of PASIC 2006 was having the priviledge of inducting the amazing Billy Cobham into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame. When I first heard the Mahavishnu Orchestra in 1973, I pretty much stopped listening to everything I had been listening to and just went crazy listening to and transcribing their three recordings - basically I was trying my hardest to play just like Billy! I've greatly enjoyed over the years hearing so many of his solo albums and work that he's done with other great players. He is such a nice person, and it was awesome getting to know him and to share the stage with him for one night.
